On occasion all you want is to add a little colour to a skin rather than do a full make-up. This is especially true in the case of male make-ups, maybe when you want to achieve an effortless hero tan (you know, that healthy outdoorsy complexion - think of the characters in the US TV series Lost) or where keeping products to a minimum is sometimes key to a happy (if a little fussy) customer.

Top 5: Contouring - Shaders

The use of clever contouring techniques can really make a difference to your features. Strengthened jawbones, straightened noses and sharper cheekbones can all be created with just the application of one or two products.

Behind the Brand: Essential Care

I am currently in the beautiful rural countryside of North Suffolk where I was bought up. Having driven up to East Anglia from London this week, combining a family visit with two jobs, I decided that it was the perfect place to write this month's Behind the Brand post as it features local company Essential Care.

Prohibition

I recently worked on a music video for a Hip Hop artist with whom I have worked with a number of occasions. Previous videos have involved pretty standard make-ups - glamour and male grooming, however this was a little different. Think 1920's prohibition, think tommy guns, pin curls, corsets and pin striped suits.... Yep you've guessed it a good 'ole gangster movie style shoot 'em up - with a twist of course!

 

London Goats

Brush cleaning takes up a lot of my time. I currently have in excess of ummm... (whispers) 200 make-up brushes and although I don't use all of them at once (obviously) they do need cleaning between make-ups.

I love my brushes, however with all that cleaning I'm always looking for new and better ways to clean them - If nothing else it makes it a little more exciting for me!
