Brushes: e.l.f

A great option if you are buying eco make-up brushes on a budget, are the Bamboo brushes from the e.l.f mineral make-up collection.

The e.l.f bamboo brushes are pleasingly simple in their design and are entirely eco in their make up. The bristles are made of Taklon, a synthetic nylon (meaning the brushes can be used successfully wet or dry), the handle from Bamboo, a sustainable product due to it's rapid regrowth rate and even the ferrule (the bit that connects the bristles to the handle) is made from recycled material.

Despite their understated appearance, these are very durable brushes and last a good while. I use a number of them as student brushes in my teaching kit and they really do show testament to that.

There are 12 brushes in the mineral collection and all but one (the bamboo Kabuki) can be purchased individually. The range covers all the basics brush-wise including; powder, foundation, smudge, lip and concealer brushes. It is this variety that makes the e.l.f bamboo range the perfect choice for those looking to start their own brush collection.

In addition to the individually available brushes, there are 2 brush sets available, priced at £15.00 for the 4 piece set; which includes complexion, concealer, blending and kabuki brushes. Alternatively there is a 5 piece set; priced at just £20.00, it contains complexion, eyeliner, concealer, lash and brow and eyeshadow brushes. Both sets are are presented in a gift pouch.

e.l.f Bamboo brushes are available on the eyelipsface website and all of the individual brushes in the range are priced at just £5.50!

Please Note: There are other, non-eco brushes on the e.l.f website, however I am specifically writing about the Bamboo mineral ones - just to avoid confusion!

e.l.f (eyeslipsface) launched in New York in 2004 and arrived in the UK in 2007. The pocket friendly priced brand has proved to be highly successful with the main focuses being on excellent customer service, producing high quality, simply packaged products and relying on online marketing rather than big budget ad campaigns.

  1. Thanks for this review! I must admit I'd never considered the ELF range before, I thought it would have much more expensive so that's a good surprise :)
