As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, Bronze is big news this summer, as are metallic eyeshadows... Kerpow!
With models at the Jason Wu Spring/Summer 2014 show at New York Fashion Week rocking the Studio 54 vibe thanks to Make-up Artist Diane Kendal (pictured - created using Lancôme), it goes to show that metallics and bronze are a winning combination - as if we needed convincing!
I have picked out a selection of both cream and powder shadows, in part because finding a good, clean, but truly metallic powder eyeshadow is still pretty tough, with any clean powder metalllics have poor colour payoff and little in the way of a metallic finish. Frustrating, but there are a few tricks to make your metallics really shine...
Metallics can be worn on either the lid alone or top and bottom; think smokey eye wish a twist. By mixing a powder shadow (loose or pressed) with a little water or applying over a eye primer, you can intensify the colour and increase wear. Alternatively, to ramp up the shine factor, apply a powder metallic over a cream metallic shadow; this will not only increase the metallic effect but will ensure your cream shadow remains crease-free. Finish off with a touch of loose glitter or metallic leaf over the top - this will really crank your shadow up to 11!*

RMS Beauty Cream Shadow in Solar
I have been rocking this shadow all summer long (thus far) thanks to fellow Make-up Artist Louise Dartford who introduced me to it at a recent make-up event. Solar is a warm shimmering gold that blends into a soft, bronze tone on the skin. It works well on the lid but even better if worked into the socket and run along the lower lash line.
Lily Lolo Mineral Eyeshadow in Bronze Sparkle
A rich deep bronze that looks good on on it's own but even better if applied with a damp brush. A super-metallic orange toned brown that looks beautiful on some many skin tones; Bronze Sparkle is a great choice for those on a budget and a perfect introduction to metallic eyes.
Concrete Minerals Mineral Eyeshadow in Blitzkrieg
If you want a shadow that packs a metallic punch then it has to be Blitzkrieg. Despite the near unpronounceable name, there is nothing about this beautiful bronze loose shadow that I don't like. A shimmering warm-toned brown that is both soft and understated by day but hard and edgy by night. Applied dry it blends beautifully into a flattering shadow that suits all but combine with water and it will take your make-up to another place!

Ilia Beauty Illuminate and Bronze in Sway
If you are slightly anxious at the prospect of jumping in to the world of metallic eyes, Sway is possibly the pick for you. A very subtle multipurpose cream (you can use it on your face as a bronzer or a highlighter if you have darker skin), it gives a very wearable soft sheer golden sheen that is both flattering and understated, however it can be built up for fuller coverage. Did I Sway you to dip a toe in metallic waters..?
Benecos Baked Eyeshadow in Mokka
Mokka is a lovely neutral toned bronze that looks great on most skin types and is a great base tone for darker skins. It's soft, understated finish is great for the office and whether used on it's own or combined with other shadows it gives a flattering dimension to any metallic (or non-metallic) eye.
