Behind The brand: Green People

Established in 1997, Green People have become one of the biggest names in organic Skincare and like with so many natural brands, began with a personal tale...

Concerned by the detrimental effects that chemical-based skincare and household products were having on her daughters health, Charlotte Vøhtz looked to non-steroid based alternatives to help minimise the irritation caused by severe eczema and allergies from which her daughter suffered.

On discovering that the vast majority of so called natural products were in fact produced using predominantly synthetics ingredients, Charlotte began to make her own Skincare products using simple Natural ingrdients and essential oils. Her nursing and pharmaceutical background combined with a knowledge of herbal medicine gave her the start she needed and following several years product testing and development, Green People was born.

All Green People products have been produced without the need for synthetic chemicals or aggressive ingredients. Free from Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS), Parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals, alcohol, synthetic fragrances and colourants, Charlotte sourced natural and organic alternatives to create nourishing products that satisfy even the most sensitive of skins.

Sixteen years on and with over one hundred certified organic and award winning products to their name, Green People are still going from strength to strength. The products are certified organic by the Soil Association, Organic Food Federation and EcoCert.

The fantastic array of product lines includes a comprehensive skin and bodycare range, toothpaste, haircare and styling, make-up and sun protection. In addition to their main skincare collection, Green People have created Sensitive, a range of scent-free products for hyper-sensitive skins. There is also Organic Homme for men, plus three product lines for children and teens; Organic Babies (my daughter loves this - at least I love her using it), Organic Children and OY! a Skincare range for young and acne-prone skin.

Besides creating a brand that stands tall, Charlotte worked with the Soil Association to develop the standards for natural and organic cosmetics. Standards that are still the benchmark for certification to this day.

I've featured Green People a number of time over the course of my blog. You can read more about Organic Homme here, why I've included them in my top five here and about the lovely eyeshadows here.
