Weleda Skin Food

I feel that I am overloading you with winter skin solutions at the moment but its that time of year and to be honest, hydrating my clients skin pre-make-up (not to mention my own parched face) is at the forefront of my mind.

If you haven't heard of Skin Food Where have you been? One of Weleda's oldest products, this stuff has been around since 1926!

With a massive celebrity following (Victoria Beckham, Adele, Erin O'Connor and Brooke Shields are  all confirmed fans), Skin Food is a staple in the kits of many a Make-up Artist.

The rich, dense formulation is perfect for tackling those pesky dry, flaky areas such as heels, elbows, hands and feet. Super hydrating and nourishing thanks in part to the Sweet Almond and Sunflower Seed oils, it is fantastic stuff and so, so versatile...

If your hands or feet are really suffering then slather them in a bit of this before bed and pop on a pair of cotton gloves or socks and Hey Presto! beautifully soft, hydrated skin come morning.

Alternatively if your face is feeling a little tight or looking parched then apply liberal quantities and allow it to sink in - it is a great way to add a little hydration and help reduce fine lines. I love using it to prep the skin prior to applying make-up to clients (and myself); allow it to sink in well though - it needs time to bed in.

The off-white cream has a clean, fresh and slightly citrus/herbal based scent that is not off-putting (at least it isn't too me) and it does dissipate if given a few minutes on the skin.

Sadly due to the beeswax content Skin Food isn't one for the vegans amongst you, however if you have skin that is crying out for a little added hydration then do give this a go.

Have you tried Weleda Skin Food? If so, tell me what you think.

Skin Food is priced at around £9.95 and available from (amongst others) Naturisimo and So Organic.

  1. I adore Skin Food. I've just moved to the Kazakh desert where it's below zero and windy, and this stuff has kept me sane. I love the scent, too.
