From The Vault: Nvey Eco Bronzer

This months blast from the past was written when I was covering the 2012 Olympic Games in London for the US television network Fox. One product I used repeatedly and was loved by the presenters and guests alike was my Organic Bronzer...

NVEY ECO Nourishing Bronzer

I have to admit, I have always had a bit of a hatred of Bronzers. Historically, I have found them unsatisfactory in so many ways; too orange, too shimmery, strangely pigmented... the list goes on. In addition to this, I hate the way that they seem to have been misused in so many make-ups in recent years and cringe at the badly applied bronzing powders caking so many faces. But I digress.

This is a product that I have very much rediscovered. I purchased the NVEY ECO bronzer a while ago and, after a few uses, it sat in my kit forgotten until London 2012, when I discovered a new found affection and appreciation for my former foe.

Perfectly matte, it is free from those pesky glitter particles that High Definition can really object too and really looks nice and natural on camera. At first glance, the NVEY bronzing powder looks a little on the dark orangey/terracotta sid

e; having used it on a number of people with Californian tans, on whom it worked beautifully, I then tried it on myself, both with and without the aid of a tinted moisturiser. Being of a reasonably pale and freckle-y persuasion, I found that it is best applied with caution as I can see that, despite being quite sheer, it does have the potentional to be too strongly pigmented for paler skin tones. I apply it lightly using a blending brush, removing the excess and then building up as required.

There are actually two bronzers in the NVEY range; Oasis and Natural, (I am unsure which one I actually own as the compact fails to give the name, but I believe it may be Oasis - it's pretty dark). I have only ever seen this one on sale in the UK, so have yet to track down the alternative colour to compare the two - if anyone has any ideas then do let me know!

Thanks to London 2012, this baby is now a staple in my male grooming kit and I use it on most male broadcast make-ups; it gives a wonderfully healthy (not orange) glow to fair to medium skin tones.

I still haven't managed to get my hands on the other shade but in all honesty I've not really tried to find one, however this has prompted me to place an order.
