Top Five: Organic Lilac Eyes

Although there are days when it seems that summer may be trying to make a resurgence, Autumn really is here and I feel that I can finally start mentioning one of trends that I have been trying desperately to avoid throughout September; lilac eyes.

With Radiant Orchid the colour of 2014 there was no doubt that purple in some form would make its way onto this seasons catwalk shows. The Diane Von Furstenberg shows led the way teaming soft lilacs and nudes with ballerina style buns, whilst Make-up Artist Diane Kendal created delicate pastel washes of colour for Chloé.

Whether you wear it as a wash of colour across the lids, an intense line along the base of the lashes or combined with a grey or taupe for a soft smokey eye, lilac can work for most people. Having said tha, as with all purple tones, treading the lilac path can be a dangerous game; remember to apply the shadow first and conceal well to avoid enhancing under-eye shadows or creating the illusion of a black eye...

Here are my five favourite organic lilacs...

Loving Lilac No. 164 by Nvey Eco

A pretty matte lavender shade that is a clean version of many of the lilac shades around on the high street. Free from talc, Loving Lilac is, like all Nvey shadows enriched with vitamins A,C, and E and packed full of soothing organic elements such as chamomile and jojoba oil to help keep your lids in tip top condition.

Amythest Cream Shadow by Zao

This has to be one of my favourites. A rich and creamy shadow with a velvety texture which can be applied fairly sheer but built up to create more intense coverage. Amythest is a beautiful purple which has all the richness and feeling of luxury that you would expect of an autumn or winter shade.

Grape by Zuii Organic

Like with all Zuii shadows (I've tried a fair few) Grape is a lot lighter than it first appears (especially if you go by the image above) and is in actual fact is a soft pastel shade which has a very (I mean very) slight sheen. If you are thinking of rocking the ballet inspired looks of this season then this would be the perfect pick!

Imagine Eye polish in Plum by RMS Beauty*

Imagine is a new release from luxury US line RMS Beauty that is just divine! A beautiful rich plum toned cream shadow that has a subtle metallic finish, Imagine goes on as a sheer wash colour; a soft burgundy rather than the deep purple it appears in the jar. Build it up or blend it with other shades to add to the intensity.

Solo Eyeshadow in Lilac by Dr Hauschka

The solo eyeshadows were amongst the first clean eyeshadows I added to my kit a few years back. Lilac is a soft, pretty shadow shot through with just a hint of iridescent shimmer; deeper in tone than it's counterparts but it isn't as highly pigmented on the eye as it is in the pan.
